2021 Hyundai Sonata N Line - How To - Driver’s Information Screen and Infotainment System

The Drivers Information Screen

The D.I.S. is a 12.3” fully digital screen, and it looks like what you would find in a new Genesis.  There is a very real look speedometer and tachometer on the far left and right with the informational section in-between them.  Although it does not offer all the options you find on a Genesis, it’s the same software and looks fantastic.  The middle portion of the screen is very simple to operate.  The Menu button the right side of the steering wheel changes the content of the screen and there are a few of those screens where you can use the up/down arrows on the right side of the steering wheel to select one of several screens.  While somewhat limited it content, for those who like lots of screens to play with, it does offer a nice set of 3 gauges that we don’t see in other Hyundai models, with gauges for Oil Temp, Torque, and the Turbo Boost, and when you change into Sport or Sport Plus Mode, the colors of the dials change which is quite cool.

The Infotainment System

The infotainment system has a 10.25“ screen and has a 12 Speaker Premium Bose Audio System along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Sirius XM, AM/FM Radio, 4g LTE WiFi Hotspot and Bluetooth.  Along with that is has the same “Sounds of Nature” we saw in the Genesis, so if you just want some background sound while driving, but not music or talk, these are great to listen to and they sound like you're actually there.  One of my favorite things about the Hyundai system is the “Favorite” button on the left side of the Infotainment System, and the “Mode” button on the left side of the steering wheel as they are customizable.  The “Mode” button can be set to switch your media to any or all of your media options like AM or FM or Sirius or Bluetooth etc, which is very convenient.  The “Favorite button can only be set to one thing, but you have a long choice of things to pick from.  My choice would be to set it to act as a “Home Button” as there is no physical “Home Button on the sides of the Infotainment system, and in Apple CarPlay there is no Home button even of the touch screen (whereas in other screens such as Bluetooth, Sirius XM etc, there is at least a Home button on the top left of the screen).  The Infotainment Screen is also where you would set up the “Custom” Drive mode that appears in the D.I.S. so you can set the steering, suspension, and throttle response.

Overall, this is a very sweet setup, the D.I.S. and the Infotainment System work well, respond fast and contain really all the information you would need.
