2022 Subaru Legacy Touring XT - How To - Driver’s Information Screen and Infotainment System

The Drivers Information Screen

The DIS Is a very basic interface with a 4.2” screen in the center of the screen.  The other gauges are all analogue.  The DIS screen contains all the basic info a motorist would want including fuel info like miles till empty, instant fuel economy, two trip meters, a media screen, Time and Temperature and so forth.  Nothing real exciting here but it has all the basic information you would need.

The Infotainment System

The screen is 11.6” in size has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, AM/FM/ and Sirius XM radio, as well as the capability to play files from a USB stick.

It has a 576 Equivalent Watt sound system with 12 Harmon Kardon Speakers, and has a good sound.

The screen itself is split into 4 spaces.  The top portion holds customizable information and contains a total of 4 possible screens you can swipe through.  The second portion of the screen is the main viewing area and is the largest of the 4 sections.  It contains all the apps, and is the main display for any app such as Media or Navigation.  The third portion of the screen is just below the app screen mentioned above and contains shortcuts to things like Home, Profiles, Auto Start/Stop, and a Car button that brings up the main safety systems.  At the bottom is the 4th section of the screen and it contains all of your climate control buttons.

The infotainment system when using voice command with Navigation was very picky about how you needed to say things, in order to get the result you wanted, so this part of the system will require the owner to spend a little time figuring out how to say things correctly, other than that, the screen was easily visible under the various light conditions we saw that day, and had plenty of options to customize how the map looked, and what it displayed.

Overall, it’s a good system although the DIS is a little dull compared to what you get in the infotainment system, which was overall excellent.
