2021 Volkswagenn Jetta SEL

This week Two Guys And A Ride got the chance to review the 2021 Volkswagen Jetta SEL Drivers Information Screen and the Infotainment System for our YouTube Channel Two Guys And A Ride.

Drivers Information Screen

The screen is a 12.3” fully digital display, and is Volkswagens digital cockpit.  It does have physical engine temperature and fuel gauge’s on the far left and right of the digital screen.

One of the great things about the VW Digital Cockpit is that you have a “View” button on the far right side of the steering wheel which allows you three different views in any screen you are presented with.  The first screen has the traditional looking RPM and Speedo gauges on the far left and right with a smaller digital display in the middle.  The second view takes away the RPM and Speedo gauges and gives you more room to see the middle screen along with some info on the left and right sides like Phone or Media.  The third view takes everything off the middle screen except the item that was originally there (say drivers safety systems) and then puts the rest of the necessary information like speed and cruise control down at the very bottom.

The information in the middle screen is what you can control from the steering wheel, the information inside the RPM and Speedometer gauges, has to be changed from the infotainment screen.  Newer models of the digital cockpit allow you to make those changes from the steering wheel ( like the new 2022 VW Taos).

So in the middle portion of the screen you have all the basic info you have come to expect like, Phone, Audio, Navigation, Safety Systems etc.  And all of these screens may or may not have additional pages of info.  If they do, you can use the up/down arrows on the right side of the steering wheel to toggle through those.

Overall a very nice customizable display.

The Infotainment Screen

The screen is an 8 inch touch screen, it has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, AM, FM, HD, and Sirius XM radio, CD player (Located in the glove compartment), bluetooth, and is 4G LTE Wifi Hotspot capable.

The sound system is a 400 watt 8 speaker Beats Audio system, and includes a subwoofer.

In this screen is where you can customize the contents in the RPM and Speedometer gauges.  You’re present with to circles (Left and right) and a View 1, View 2, and Auto buttons.  Sliding your finger up or down on the circles changes the info in each circle.  Once you get to a combination you like, simply press and hold View 1 button until it lights up, then repeat the same for View 2, and now with a click of a button you can change the content in those areas.  The Auto button if selected, just means that the look on your screen will change depending on what drive mode your in.  Pretty cool!

Ok so the rest of the infotainment system works the same way every modern system works, where you click on the app you want to control, and it pops up on your screen, and from there you make the adjustments you want.

The one thing I’d like to point out is the cool graphic picture VW now puts in under the Safety Systems.  It present you with a clickable picture of a car driving down a road.  Anything highlighted in blue is part of the safety systems, so if you click on any of the blue ares, a screen will pop up that will allow you to Make any changes you want like turn of speed limit sign reading.  If you click on the gear wheel at the bottom of this screen, it will show you a plain Jane view of all the safety systems, and you can also make changes from there.  I just really like the graphics idea and I think consumers will as well.

Over all a very nice system.
