2022 VolksWagen Taos SEL

This week Two Guys And A Ride got the chance to review the 2022 Volkswagen Taos SEL Drivers Information Screen and the Infotainment System for our YouTube Channel Two Guys And A Ride.

The Drivers Information Screen

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos has a digital Drivers Information Screen with permanent engine temp and fuel gauges on the far right and left of the digital screen.  The screen itself is right around 12” and is traditionally designed with the main menu items appearing at the top of the screen as you scroll through the options for what displays on your screen.  There is also a View button on the right side of the steering wheel which allows you three different views of each screen you choose.  One view will show you the item/information you selected (ie. Fuel economy) with the tach and speedo showing up as well, the second view will give you a larger screen for the item/information you selected while taking away the tach and speedo gauges and displaying basic info like speed at the bottom of the screen.  The third view takes all the extra stuff out of the screen and puts the necessary info like speed at the bottom of the screen, but the main part only show the item or piece of information you have selected.  Basically it allows you to “clean up” your screen area to allow to focus on what you really want to see.

The information you can access is all contained in the menu icons at the top of the screen which you can select using the steering wheel controls on the right side.  Basic categories include, Media, Phone, Navigation, Driving Data, and Safety Systems.

Once any of these categories are selected, the information available shows up in the middle of the screen.  Depending on the screen, there are several that contain multiple pages of info that you can scroll through and view.  There are a few pages where there is no option to scroll, meaning thats the only information available in this area.  But there is plenty of information to see.

The Infotainment System

The Infotainment System has an 8” touch screen, Bluetooth, AM, FM, and Sirius XM radio, along with a wired connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it is 4G LTE WiFi hotspot capable.  It has an 8 speaker (including subwoofer) Beats Audio premium sound system.

The system is traditionally laid out with clickable apps on the screen with dedicated touch buttons on the far right and left of the screen that you can quickly access at any time.  It does have a physical volume/power button as well as a tune button that can be used in the Radio app to select stations.

One of the things I’d like to point out is the Safety Systems screen.  In this screen Volkswagen has done a great job of displaying a clickable picture where you can click on any part of the picture highlighted in blue, and it will pop up the safety systems for that item, and you can adjust it from there.  You can also view just a plain Jane version of the safety systems by clicking the gear wheel on the bottom right of the screen.  I really liked the graphic display and think consumers will as well.

Over all the infotainment system is complete with everything you’d expect with the added bonus the graphic safety systems display.
