2021 Aston Martin DBX
This week Two Guys And A Ride got the chance to review the 2021 Aston Martin DBX Drivers Information Screen and the Infotainment System for our YouTube Channel Two Guys And A Ride.
Drivers Information Screen
The screen itself is a 12.3” fully digital screen. You have a tach on the left which also displays your digital speed, a speedometer on the far right which contains 3 pages of additional info (Trip info, Navigation, and a Calm Screen), and then in the middle is where all the rest of the information is displayed.
So in the middle part of the screen you get the typical menus for Phone, Media, Navigation, Assistance, and Service. When clicked on each of these main menus displays information. In some screens there are multiple pages of info that you can scroll through, and in other screens what you see is what you get.
So the set up here is easy to access, easy to manipulate and change, and well thought out. It is not an over complicated set up. Being a fully digital screen, my one disappointment was that you could not customize the look of the screen other than changing drive modes.
The Infotainment System
This screen is a 10.25 inch display and has bluetooth, AM, FM, Sirius XM, Wired Apple CarPlay, Wired Android Auto, and has a 4G LTE Wifi Hotspot. The sound is provided by 800 Watts and 14 speakers.
This system is based on older Mercedes Benz technology, which at the time it was created was great, but not so great any more. It is not a touch screen, and uses the rotary style selected wheel and the touchpad both located in the center console.
The system is OK and provides all the basic info we have come to expect from a modern infotainment system, but its miles away from the most current technology.
It does provide the ability to have a split screen so two pieces of info, say Navigation and Media, can be seen at the same time. It also allows you to design a custom drive mode.
It does have a cool graphic under the drive modes, and then under Engine Data, that shows you two traditional looking gauges but their for HP and Torque.
Short of these couple things, the system is outdated, the controllers seem clunky compared to what we see on new vehicles today. Hopefully all this will be updated soon
