Splittin’ Image* - The Toy Car That Became Real
This car was created as part of the Car Masters: Rust To Riches TV show on Netflix. The current owner acquired it from Gotham Garage. The car is the real life replica of a Hot Wheels car. The Hot Wheels version was designed by Ire Gilford, and the real life replica was created by Mark Towle from Gotham Garage. Although not all parts on the car are working parts, the idea was to create a look alike to the Hot Wheels version and they nailed that right on the head. The underpinnings of the car are from an 1986 Chevrolet Corvette, including the engine and transmission.
The current owner of Splittin’ Image, Mike, runs a non-profit called Cars Against Crime. Cars Against Crime™ is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. “Cars” mission is to use our Crime Fighter and other well known vehicles to raise money for Police, Fire, First Responders and Everyday Heroes. *Hot Wheels is the inventor of the Splitting' Image toy car, the car in the video is the original car built on the Car Masters: Rust to Riches show.
