**Join Us for the Unveiling of an Extraordinary Student-Built Rat Rod Go-Kart Project**

We’re proud to showcase the culmination of a year-long collaborative effort between two Minnesota high school shop classes who took on the challenge of building custom Rat Rod Go-Karts—from the ground up. With the support of **Northern Tool + Equipment**, each school received \$10,000 worth of professional-grade tools and a high-performance engine to kick off the build. Everything else, from the frame to the finishing touches, was crafted by the students and their dedicated instructors.

To elevate the experience, the students were mentored by two legendary figures in the world of motorsports: **NASCAR icon Richard Petty, “The King,”** and **custom motorcycle builder Billy Lane of Choppers Inc.** Their guidance and expertise provided invaluable insight and inspiration throughout the build.

This initiative was part of Northern Tool + Equipment’s broader commitment to supporting skilled trades education. Over the past year, the company partnered with 10 public high schools across the country, aiming to give students real-world, hands-on experience in the trades—experience that can shape their future career paths.

At the unveiling, we’ll hear from the students who built the Rat Rods, their instructors, the leadership team at Northern Tool + Equipment, and of course, Mr. Petty and Mr. Lane. It’s a celebration of craftsmanship, mentorship, and the bright future of the trades.
